For the first time, artists in all five boroughs will invite the public inside their studios. This event is free to the public and visitors can preview artists' work on the website at http://www.nycopenstudios.org - download and print PDF maps, and create their own self-guided tours. Printed tour maps will be available in a special 16 page full color section of the September 28-October 11 issue of The L Magazine; they can also be picked up at any Urban Outfitters or Equinox Fitness Club location in Manhattan starting September 28th. Each Saturday and Sunday in October, the artists' studios will be open from 11:00am - 6:00pm. NYC Citywide Open Studios Tour will begin with:
Three hundred open studios artists will exhibit 700 12" x 12" original artworks. It's a great place for studio tour visitors to start, place bids starting at only $100, and select which artists' studios they wish to visit. See http://www.nycopenstudios.org for full details. NYC Citywide Open Studios is a program of Emerging Artists International (EAI). EAI is a new nonprofit organization founded by Jesse Lambdin, based in New York City, dedicated to nurturing contemporary artists and enriching our culture through exposure to new art. This program marks the first step in a long vision to build a new institution focused on making a dent in the "starving artist" cliché. Many world-class institutions exist to support established artists--art at the tree tops. EAI's goal is to become an equally important institution dedicated to supporting art at its roots. If you are interested in helping our cause, there are numerous opportunities to get involved, including: making tax-deductible donations, joining the board of directors or trustees, sponsoring our programs, and volunteering. Artists are encouraged to visit our website http://www.isupportart.org to register to participate in NYC Citywide Open Studios and receive information on our future programs. For interviews, high resolution digital photography of artwork and other information, contact Jesse Lambdin at jesse@isupportart.org or (718) 484-4822. We wish to thank our generous event sponsors for their support: The L Magazine, Not For Tourists (NFT), Equinox Fitness Clubs, Boom Design Group, Beth Shepard Communications LLC, The Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center (GMDC), Cocoa Bar, MG, Gemini Artist Productions, Urban Outfitters, and Clark Priftis Art LLC. |
